Hecka Decima

//Small Ship Pilot, Engineer

Space Cat

Hecka is my primary OC, and stands as my proxy and sona in many spaces. She’s a cat! And maybe a little fox. I unfortunately can’t find a cute way to combine the names of these species so let’s just say Space Cat for now.

She’s a flight academy dropout, who maintains and operates small starcraft for odd jobs as part of a freelance crew in the [tentatively named] HECKATONICS story setting. Due to the nature of her work, she runs a tavern (of the same name) to bring in rumors of interesting work.

//AT A GLANCE
white fur, white hair, red-orange eyes, black ears and hands with a cool blue in the transition.

  • Her hands and right foot are black, fading to white with a cool blue-grey hue in the gradient. She will neither confirm nor deny rumors over whether this is her natural patterning, an intentional dye job, or a byproduct of spending so much time in engineering.
  • There is a pattern of darker cool grey fur on top of her snout. This can be hatched or solid black, depending on style and format.
  • Her hair is a somewhat unkempt bobcut, with bangs encroaching on her eyes and longer fets that sweep in and forward.
  • She is digitigrade (by default, planti is fine if it’s more in your style), and her left leg is synthetic starting above the knee. If pressed about how she lost her leg, she’ll give a different story every time, even if the person has asked before. She keeps a collection of spares in the same way one might have a closet full of collector sneakers. This means you’re free to make up a leg, or just give her a ‘real’ one with a panel line or two where it meets. Whatever, so long as it’s above the knee!
  • Nurse Joy Syndrome- There’s a seemingly limitless number of ‘Ka clanmates to call on in the verse. They likely have different fur patterning, haircuts, and body augments, but a bystander would have some issues catching on if two of them were messing with em.

//Style

  • Her default tends to be sports wear or swim suits for the range of motion and breathability when doing work in tight spaces. She’ll often just throw something over top to be more presentable outside the shop. The most common examples here are one piece swimsuits and bomber jackets.
  • techwear-oriented (think Arknights; waii fu my beloved) for more “trying to be stylish” looks. This would be something worn to the tavern to talk with clients. (Art in this style pending, sorry.)
  • Formal wear for dressy occasions should feel very “sky pirate”. Not in an eye patch way, but silky clothing with some “I know how to fence” vibes. Something you could wear a concealed holster under while still looking delicate. Example (by JamDraws)
  • Like her body, a neutral/cool palette makes up a majority of clothing, with a pop of bright color for good measure. Her favorite color is Red, followed by orange.
  • The leg is often a source of color dynamics against an otherwise plain palette. She likes to make a point of it instead of hide it!
  • She’s a bit of a sneakerhead, and will often match a shoe to her robotic leg (refer back to waii fu for digitigrade shoe styling). If depicted plantigrade, especially human, both feet get shoes, and she basically never takes them off for anything.
  • Her tail can be left plain, but is often weighed down with a metal clasp, to keep muscles used to the resistance of a flight suit’s tail sock.
